How to Choose the Right Golf Cart in Mexico: A Premium Guide for Coastal Living
Hardy Carts covers costal areas – living in the places you do:
- Punta Mita to Puerto Vallarta
- Playa del Carmen
- Los Cabos
- Nauka Nayarit
- Mandarina Nayarit
- Puerto Adventuras
Life is different living on the coast. Our communities cover big areas, often making it hard to walk to your destination, but not long enough that you’d need a car. So how do you get to between your villa, beach club, marina, golf course, restaurant, or resort without calling a car every time you want to go somewhere? Golf carts are the solution. Our team at Hardy Carts are experts in finding YOU and your family the perfect cart. Why? Because we live here right with you. We are experts in golf carts, and know what questions to ask to make sure you make the right investment.
New vs. Used
At Hardy Carts, we offer new carts, carts on consignment from our clients, and used carts. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. New golf carts come with a larger price tag, but have full warranty and peace of mind. Used and consignment carts are great for budget seekers (especially in private sales where you save the IVA), but the warranty is no longer valid. Batteries are of then the biggest expense, ranging from $2000 - $3000 USD to replace, so battery health must be considered in purchasing a used cart.
How will you Use your Golf Cart?
Before choosing a cart, think about your real daily use. Will it be for a private home? A vacation rental? A hotel or resort? A family trip? A golf community? Short rides inside a gated community? Longer coastal drives? Guest transportation? A couple staying near a marina may need something simple and easy to park. A family with kids may need extra seating and storage. A homeowner in a luxury resort community may want a more elevated cart that matches the property. A vacation property might want something durable, but with lots of space for guests. The right choice depends on lifestyle first.
Choose the Right Size: 2-Seater vs. 4-Seater vs. 6-Seater
A 2 seater golf cart is perfect for the course. Does your course allow privately owned carts? If it’s a yes, a 2 seater is a no brainer.
Our golf course ready carts include:
· TARA
· ATLAS
A 4-seater golf cart is ideal for couples, small families, shorter stays, marina trips, restaurant visits, and quick community transportation. It is easy to drive due to its shorter chassis length, easy to park, and perfect for simple everyday movement.4-Seater golf carts come in 2 configurations:
- 2+2 – meaning 2 seats forward, 2 seats backward4 seats forward
While the 4 seats forward is a clear winner in terms of comfort, accessibility, and safety, especially if children are riding, the 2+2 has a shorter chassis, making it VERY driveable and smooth on all the speed bumps, or topes, you’ll find in every community. The 2+2 is a great option if you want something for the golf course, but you’ll occasionally need to put 4 people on the cart. It’s also a great option for rental properties because it is compact, and less expensive than the 4 forward. Our 4-seat golf cart line-up includes:
A 6-seater golf cart is called a ‘limo cart’ for a reason! Its perfect for larger families, groups of friends, villa guests, and anyone who wants extra space. We find many clients who do a lot of hosting like to have one 6 seater for guests and groups, and then a smaller every day cart, if you have the space. Many guests end up using the cart more than expected. If you are staying several days, traveling with kids, or hosting guests, a larger cart can make the experience much more comfortable.
Our 6-seat golf cart line-up includes:
Consider the Terrain and Community
Not every coastal community is the same. In Los Cabos, communities can include hills, long driveways, golf course roads, and ocean-view streets. In Punta Mita, carts are part of the everyday resort lifestyle, connecting homes, beach clubs, restaurants, and golf areas. In Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras, golf carts are often used for practical daily movement between villas, condos, cafés, shops, marinas, and beach access points. That is why local guidance matters. A cart that works perfectly in one community may not be the best choice for another. You need to consider distance, road conditions, hills, parking, community rules, seating needs, battery performance, and how often the cart will be used. Some carts climb extremely steep hills with ease, others don’t. Some carts are lifted with off-road tires for packed sand or gravel terrain, others have street tires. Hardy Carts helps customers choose based on real destination experience; we understand where you live and the road you’re going to be driving on makes a huge impact on which brand and size of cart is right for you.
Why Lithium Power Makes a Better Experience
For premium coastal transportation, lithium matters. Lithium golf carts are known for better performance, smoother power, faster charging, and no maintenance, and more dependable daily use compared with older battery systems. Lead-acid carts require monthly maintenance, distilled water refills, precautions on use and charging to maintain battery life, and decline in performance as they age, meaning a slower cart.
Lithium is the clear choice as its now a competitive price to lead-acid.
